Head of Pre-school
Sally has worked at St Michael and All Angels Pre-school since 1999, starting as an assistant and progressing to Deputy Head in 2005 and then appointed as Head in 2007.
Since working at the Pre-school Sally has gained a Degree (first class honours) in Early Years Education. Her dissertation was a study of Quality Learning Environments, some of the research and findings from this work have been used at Pre-school to help provide the best possible environment for the children. Sally is a qualified teacher, specialising in Early Years. She has a strong interest in different styles of pedagogy and in the health and well being of the child.
Before working at the Pre-school Sally spent thirteen years with Lloyds Bank finishing with working as an Assistant to the Manager.
Sally has two daughters, both of whom attended Pre-school and lives locally.
Deputy Head of Pre-school & SENCO
Sandra started working at the Pre-school when her daughter attended and has now been with the staff for over fourteen years. Previously Sandra worked in the travel industry for many years, eventually landing her dream job for British Airways, working at their flagship store on Regents Street. The job gave Sandra opportunities to travel and she visited many amazing destinations including Australia, Mauritius, Malaysia, the Caribbean and many more. Sandra has enjoyed the change in the direction of her career and loves working with the children. Sandra specialises in supporting children with additional needs.
Sandra leads our lunchtime staff team.
Deputy Head of Pre-school
Vanessa has been at St. Michael and All Angels Preschool for 13 years, 7 (?) years as Deputy Head where she gained a Diploma in Preschool Practice.
Prior to this she worked for First Data, a credit card processing company in Basildon, staring off in the I.T. Department as a system security assistant, then moving into the communications department where she was employed as a desk top publisher, designing and laying out internal and external publications, and producing presentation material for the company executives.
She has 3 children, 2 of which attended the preschool and Our Lady of Lourdes School.
Early Years Educators & Keyworkers
Aneta is Polish and she has worked at St.Michael and All Angels since November 2004. In Poland, she attended Teacher Training Collage and was awarded the Degree of Licentiate (University Graduation Diploma of English Language Teaching). She also holds NVQ3 qualifications in Childcare (age 0-5) and enjoys working with children. Aneta speaks Russian and loves reading as well as ice-skating.
Debbie started at the Pre-school in 2006 after her youngest son started school. Before joining Pre-school Debbie worked in a day nursery, as a Nanny and as a Child minder so has lots of experience with children from babies upwards. She has undertaken training through to being fully qualified whilst at the Pre-school.
Debbie has two sons and a dog, both of her boys attended the Pre-school really enjoying their time here and went on to Chalkwell Hall Infants, Juniors and then to Belfairs.
Debbie is currently the Pre-school’s Mark Making Co-ordinator.
Carolyne has lived in Southend all of her life. She has three grown up sons who attended Darlinghurst School and Belfairs all three have attended University. Carolyne has worked at the Pre-school since 1998 and has completed her Child Care Qualifications alongside work. She has a particular interest in outdoor play and learning and was able to complete Level 2 Forest School Practitioner course based in Belfairs Woods. In Carolyne’s spare time she is a volunteer for the local branch of the RSPCA her role includes looking after cats and kittens in her home whilst they find a forever home and checking the suitability of homes for re-homing RSPCA animlas. She has also been a volunteer at the Belfairs Woodland Centre.
Previous work experience includes working in a bank, as a volunteer on a Kibbutz in Israel and on a Summer camp in USA. A holiday /Children’s rep for a holiday company in Mallorca (where I met Francisco) and worked in Southend Library for a while. I have 3 children, Daniel, 20, Laura 16 & Sofia 11. My interests include gardening, spending time on my allotment,& playing netball.I can speak Spanish and love Art & Reading too. Qualifications include C&G in Interior Design and Gardening As well a CCLD levels 2 +3.
Chloe had worked as a legal cashier in big city law firms. Deciding on a change in career Chloe completed a BA (hons) degree in Early Years Education in 2012. Since starting the degree Chloe has worked in two schools gaining valuable experience and is now a pre school practitioner.
Chloe is a mother of three children, two are at the pre school and one is at infant school.
Melanie qualified in Early Years in the 1980’s and moved to London where she gained lots of experience working as a sole charge Nanny caring for children aged from a few months to 11yrs. After becoming a mum in 2007 she worked for the Local Authority with Looked After Children as a Family Contact Supervisor. Since returning to Essex she has worked at a local Children’s Centre, a Nursery and for the Local Authority as a Family Contact Worker as well as volunteering at a local school. She has undertaken additional training including Makaton and Planning. Melanie has been employed at St Michael & All Angels Pre-school since 2014
Other Staff Pre-school Assistant
Emma joined our team in September 2019, she is new to Childcare and Education and is a bank staff member and part of our lunchtime team.
